Cassidy’s Final Year as CHBA-CO President

This year is Cassidy’s final year as the President of the Canadian Home Builder’s Association – Central Okanagan. The following are her thoughts on her time at CHBA and what’s to come for the future.

“Being the President of the CHBA-CO over the past year and a half, has been an amazing experience. This opportunity has made me a better professional, a better builder, and a more engaged member of our community.

I have met so many new people within our community and have made friendships across the province. The value of having a peer network within our industry is immeasurable.

CHBA has provided me with numerous opportunities that I normally wouldn’t have as a small business owner. I have travelled to Victoria to meet with Melanie Mark, the Minister of Skilled Trades. I have been able to discuss key housing issues with Selena Robinson, the Minister of Housing, and I met with Housing Critic, Todd Stone in Kamloops to discuss critical issues we are having here in Kelowna.

These experiences have all allowed me to increase my knowledge and understanding of the issues that our industry faces.

I feel blessed to have held this position and am really looking forward to what this last year has to offer. This won’t be the end though. In March of 2021, I will become the Vice President of our provincial association for a one-year term, then becoming the provincial President in 2022.

Thank you to all of my peers – the amazing builders, renovators and suppliers in the Central Okanagan, who have supported me as their President. I truly believe that your home is one of the most important things in your life and I am so proud to be in an industry that is full of so many amazing people.”
